Local Move from Indian Trail, NC to Locust, NC
With the kids grown, the couple’s 5-bedroom home in Indian Trail was more space than they needed. They bought a newly built 3-bedroom flat (single-floor) house in Locust, NC — about 14 miles away. We ran a video call to build the inventory and plan the move.
This was a partial pack. They boxed their own small items; we handled the furniture and the fragile pieces — vases, large mirrors, and computers. A nearby job wrapped up early, so we called and asked to start a day ahead. They said yes, and we arrived around 3 PM to lay rug runners and wrap furniture.
Day two we loaded the single 26-ft van — ~1,400 cu ft, 9,800 lbs — tagging every piece with numbered tape and logging it on an inventory sheet. Heavy furniture on the bottom, boxes in the middle, light items up top.
Delivery couldn’t start before 1 PM because of the closing. It ran long, and we didn’t get the keys until late afternoon, so we began unloading at 4 PM. We still placed and reassembled everything that evening, walked the home with the customer, and left with zero damage reported.

How we executed the move, step by step
Three days, one 26-ft van, and a partial pack built around a senior couple’s downsizing move from Indian Trail to Locust, NC.
Packing the furniture
We finished a nearby job early and asked to start a day ahead — the couple agreed. We arrived around 3 PM, laid rug runners, and wrapped the furniture plus the fragile items: vases, large mirrors, and computers. The small boxes were already packed by the clients.
Loading the 26-ft van
We loaded the single 26-ft van (2,100 cu ft capacity) with the ~1,400 cu ft, 9,800 lb load. Every piece got a numbered tag and an inventory entry. Heavy furniture went on the bottom, boxes in the middle, lighter items on top.
Delivery to Locust, NC
Delivery couldn’t begin before 1 PM, and the closing pushed us to 4 PM. We still unloaded everything that evening, placed it room by room, reassembled the beds and other furniture, and walked the home with the customer before leaving.

We hired EASTLAND Movers for a MD to PA move in early February 2025. The crew showed up promptly with 5 movers and 2 trucks. They got started right away and did an excellent job! Yes, a few small gouges and scratches on some of the furniture though nothing was broken or severely damaged. They wrapped and packed very well. Also, the guys were very polite! Highly recommend!
